“You never know where something will take you until you try.”
Tell us a little bit about your journey?
I’m from Western Sydney and now working within the city and Northern beaches. I work as a Wardrobe Assistant on Home and Away for Channel 7. As apart of my job I help organise the outfits and get the cast dressed on set along with all of the fun things like washing and putting away clothes!
I have met the most amazing people and my team are so lovely to work with it’s such a fun and enjoyable environment, all the actors are also amazing people. I absolutely love my job and have just started full time work after casual and I cannot wait to see where it takes me.
What were the highlights of your journey at Orana?
Studying at Orana was such an amazing experience. I gained so much industry knowledge from all of the subjects and would say my absolute favourite would have to be Creative Direction, it was so fun to be able to use initiative and all creative aspects and work as a group to do photoshoots.
Not only was that amazing, I also made so many lifelong friends who I couldn’t imagine doing this course without.
Was there anything you didn’t expect to experience as a fashion student?
At the beginning I didn’t think I’d experience the friendships with my peers and trainers as much as I did, everyone was so friendly to each other and always helped one another out, it was like a big family.
I also never thought I would get the opportunity to volunteer at Australian Fashion Week, Intern and get work within the industry and from this I gained so many beneficial contacts.
Do you enjoy being a student in Sydney?
Just do it, it may be scary doing something no one else around you is doing but if it is something you are wanting to do and enjoy, it is 100% the right thing to do.
One night I decided to apply and I have had the best experience and am now working the best job, you never know where something will take you until you try.
Remember everyone in your course is in the same boat as you and you will make so many friends along the way.
Take the next step and launch
your creative career just like Tiarne.
